Meal replacement shakes are promoted as a healthy quick solution for weight loss as they're packed with protein and superfoods in the convenient powder but what does the weight loss research say about these shakes lets discuss it. I'm digging into the science around the best weight loss shakes but the main question is that what are these shakes? There are a bunch of shakes available on the market right now as they are high protein powders with other nutrients from juice extracts freeze-dried plants, synthetic vitamins, and mineral mixes. 

These powders are blended with ice, water, or other add-ins like milk, fruits, and veggies. Many shakes are promoted as the best diet shakes to help lose weight and keep it off. Generally, they're recommended as the best meal replacement shakes to replace one to two meals a day with a third of low-calorie meals plus physical activity browsing through websites and social media. 

What Are Weight Loss Shakes?

There are tons of before-and-after pictures with testimonials of weight loss motivation and weight loss success. However, the anecdote is not evidence that not many of the current brands have been clinically studied but we can gain some insight from research using a similar approach with film fast and media fast products. The additional support included both individual and group weight-loss sessions with dieticians and health educators. These sessions focus on weight loss strategies and weight loss motivation support. My takeaway from this analysis is that partial meal replacement programs can yield more weight loss than diet alone when used as one tool among many within a supported weight-loss program. 

Which Shakes Are Best For Weight Loss?

But about longer than one-year specific shakes haven't been evaluated at this extended time frame but there are some other studies that can help address whether meal replacements, in general, are important in the long haul. Another study investigated a comprehensive weight loss program that introduced many different strategies for weight loss and maintenance over eight years in which some people maintain their weight loss while others regained it. 

Both the maintainer and the regain errs said they use meal replacement shakes about the same amount suggesting that shakes aren't the key to long-term weight maintenance. Domain trainers did report more physical activity, self-weight monitoring, and more frequent low-calorie food intake suggesting that these strategies may be more important for keeping the weight off.

Another study addresses this question in a different way as it follows individuals who have maintained at least a 30-pound weight loss for a year or more and when the researchers asked these individuals what strategies they use for maintenance, the first takeaway is that there's no one-size-fits-all approach. However, only about 1 in 10 reports using a meal replacement shake strategy while others include keeping healthy foods at home, regular self-weighing, and physical activity.

 It seems like meal replacements aren't playing an important game-changing role in long-term weight maintenance. When making major dietary changes, there is a need to consult a registered dietician for individualized advice as it's difficult to come to strong conclusions about the best protein shakes for weight loss on our social media feed today because they haven't been individually studied with the best evidence. 

Conclusion:-

In this blog, I have shown that partial meal replacement programs which include the best meal replacement shakes for weight loss, bars, and pre-portioned whole food can enhance weight loss in one year. Solely relying on the best protein powder to lose weight (shakes) isn't sustainable in the long haul as that's what science tastes like.
